Peter Lion was inclined towards writing from a very young age. Throughout his maturing years in Connecticut he was seen dabbling in poetry and also wrote numerous short stories. His talent within this field was further perfected when after joining the Notre Dame High School in Connecticut he soon began contributing to the students school newspaper.
He got down to make a career of his passion for the words first by getting a degree in Journalism through the Southern Connecticut State University. He printed his first magazine article in the Hartford Magazine before he graduated with his journalism degree.
He ventured to the television business even before he had completed his college. A few months before graduation, Peter Lion took up a job with WTNH-TV as part time graphics operator. This television channel was an affiliate with the ABC network and was based out of New Haven. Peter Lion though, had no knowledge of this field snapped up this chance to get an entry and also to create a foothold in the news and tv industry.
He mastered the ropes quickly, understanding the technicalities in the workings of the television network and continued to be a part of the channel for over a period of two years.
Then he moved to Boston and started working with WSBK as a Technical Director. He labored on several projects, his major one being the Boston Red Sox Baseball and Boston Bruins Hockey. Nevertheless, his wish to be in television and his love for writing pulled him back to his home state as a part of a little television station start up.
He signed up with this team as a director as well as a technical director for the 10 PM news cast, which was to be the very first within the state. He grabbed this opportunity of showcasing his talent and knowledge as in his stint in Boston he’s had the capacity of working together with several accomplished directors. He used this understanding to develop the show from scratch.
Peter Lion moved to Pittsburg and joined KADA TV after completing a couple of years in this start-up. As part of his stint with this television network, he exploited the various facets of his expertise and worked as a weather anchor, announcer, news producer, feature producer and director. It was throughout his stint at KADA-TV that Peter Lion found inspiration for his book titled The American St. Nick”.
He then moved back in Connecticut and became a part of ESPN sports network. Still an integral part of ESPN, he is responsible for a variety of their shows like Sports Centre and the NFL Draft in his position in the organization as a Director. His primary show however, remains, College Gameday.
He has been a 2 time winner of the Emmy awards, although he has been nominated frequently for his contribution in the television industry. He got his first Emmy for his work in Sports Centre and received his second Emmy for the show NFL countdown.
Besides working, Peter Lion is presently working on his second book. He’s also a part of a band that goes by the name of Cheaper than Therapy” and is its lead singer as well as guitarist
